The death toll in Donetsk marks one of the deadliest reported incidents in recent months. Denis Pushilin, the head of the Donetsk region, had previously stated that 13 people died in a “terrible bombing on a market.” He also mentioned that the attack occurred on Sunday, which is the busiest day for the market.

In a subsequent update, Pushilin provided further details by stating, “At the present moment, we have received confirmation of the unfortunate loss of 25 lives. Additionally, we have reports indicating that a minimum of 20 individuals have sustained injuries.” This additional information sheds light on the severity of the situation has taken on human lives.

Photographs and video taken at the scene showed crying people, some who said they had lost their relatives, and bodies lying on blood-soaked snow near one of the city’s markets. The scene depicts a distressing situation with crying individuals who have tragically lost their relatives. Bodies are found on blood-soaked snow near the city’s market, making it a horrific event.

In response to this devastating incident, emergency services are actively operating at the scene. Forensic specialists are also present, working diligently to collect fragments of the weapons used in the attack. This crucial evidence will aid in investigations and help bring justice to those responsible for this terrible act. It is our hope that all necessary measures are being taken to support those affected by this tragedy and prevent any further harm from occurring.

On Sunday, Moscow referred to the strike on the market as a “barbaric terrorist act,” highlighting what Russia considers its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

According to a statement issued by the Russian foreign ministry, they have accused the Kyiv regime of being associated with neo-Nazi ideologies. They also claim that this regime, allegedly supported by the United States and their allies, has carried out what they describe as a barbaric terrorist act against innocent civilians in Russia. It is important to note that these are serious allegations made by the Russian government, and further investigation is needed.

The recent attack, which took place weeks after the initial incident, adds to the ongoing tension in the region. It is worth noting that the authorities claiming control by Russian forces had previously reported on January 1 that four individuals, including journalists, lost their lives in strikes that occurred in Donetsk. Additionally, a total of 13 individuals were wounded during these attacks. This context underscores the gravity of the situation and highlights the continued volatility in the area.
