However, the coup has led to a shift in sentiment, with protests against the West and even attacks on the French embassy. This movement seems to be spreading throughout the country.
One businessman, who remains anonymous for safety reasons, expressed his pro-Russian stance and resentment towards France, stating that his country has been exploited for its resources. He mentioned that thousands participated in a recent protest to support the military takeover.
Niger, with a population of 24.4 million, faces significant poverty, with two in every five people living in extreme poverty.
