David Sinclair explains how his background in implementing surveillance systems for mobile operators and government agencies in autocratic countries led him to develop 4 Freedom Mobile. Upon returning to the US in 2019, he was surprised to find that similar surveillance technologies were being used there. Sinclair emphasizes that he feels more surveilled in the United States than he ever was in countries like Russia and Kazakhstan.

Brian McClain: We are here at Freedom Fest and David Sinclair is joining us. David, welcome to the program here at State of Nation. How are you doing?

David Sinclair: I’m doing great. Thank you so much for having me.

Brian McClain: It’s great to have you here with us. I’ve got Lynn Shaw, my co host with me. Lynn, say hello to David.

Lynn Shaw: Hello, David. How are you today?

David Sinclair: I’m doing great, Lynn. Thank you very much for having me on the show.

Brian McClain: Let’s jump right into it. — a veteran, yeah. Absolutely, Lynn. David’s a veteran executive in telecommunications And High-tech Industries, and the founder and CEO of 4 Freedom Mobile, a mobile service provider that gives their subscribers the tools they need to cure their phones and stop tracking, hacking, and data theft that occurs every day.

I love this concept. You know, I was a fan of John McAfee, and I remember there was a moment in his timeline when he said, I’m going to create this black phone thing and it’s going to secure all your communications. Then, of course, we all know how that all ended up. So, David, welcome to the show. Tell us a little bit about Four Freedom.

David Sinclair: So, 4 Freedom Mobile really came out of my background actually implementing surveillance systems and mobile operators and government agencies help them to be able to survey people through their mobile phone. Now I was doing this outside of the US in some of the most autocratic countries in the world, Russia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, places like that. And I was outside the US for, you know, almost 30 years. And then I came back to the US in 2019 and was just shocked to discover that all of these same technologies have been implemented here. And, you know, I thought I was coming back to the land of the free and discovered I’m surveilled more in the United States than I ever was in Russia or Kazakhstan or any of those countries.

Brian McClain: That’s pretty shocking to hear. That and at the same time not. You know? What do you think about the surveillance grid and the and the just the trajectory into technocracy? You know, I find that the cellular phone, the smart mobile phone has just been such a paradigm shift especially for the youth, I think. that people like us that grew up without them is I think it’s probably difficult for us to even understand what it would be like to be someone who was pretty much born with a smartphone in hand.

David Sinclair: Yeah. You know, it’s amazing. The great technology that’s come about. What’s impressive is how quickly Organizations have adapted to be able to utilize that technology for their own purposes. You know?

So, one of the things that I experienced firsthand living in these autocratic countries seeing how governments could collude with tech companies and network operators to collect this data and then actually to manipulate people’s ability share information, people’s ability to communicate with each other, to track people’s movement, to even manage how people are allowed to use their money to really control and manipulate a population, what that population believes and what that population does. And so when I came back to the US and I saw that all these same tools have been implemented here, I realized, okay, you know, this is back in 2019.

This is before any change in politics or anything. Back in 2019, I was like, you know, aren’t people more concerned about their privacy here? Aren’t people worried about their digital freedom? And when I found out when I talked with people was, well, yeah, everybody’s concerned. But everybody looks at it and says, it’s just too complicated.

There’s you know, you have to have a PhD in cybersecurity to know what to do. And so that was when I said, you know what? There’s got to be a simple solution to this. And that’s when I began developing the 4 Freedom mobile platform. And what started off as a hobby became a passion and it became a business now.

And so, we provide unlimited talk techs and high speed data worldwide now, and we prevent network operators, tech Companies, and hackers from being able to track your location, your identity, your communications, your Internet activity, your app usage, even your financial transactions.

Brian McClain: Excellent. Well, I know Lynn’s got a burning question in her pocket here, so she’s going to hit you with it.

Lynn Shaw: Well, David, first of all, everybody, I want to point out the number 4freedommobile.com is the website. Also, on Twitter. Again, number 4, Freedom Mobile, it’s number 1, everybody. So, David, I do a lot of work with families and kids and technology.

How are you addressing if you’re addressing at all? Is there any component to 4 Freedom addressing what’s going on with kids? Do you have any kind of partnership? Are you directly dealing with families? This is an issue because we know wherever the kids are, there are predators.

Now I know you have security in place, but how does this issue we all know about these days fall into what you’re doing?

David Sinclair: So, we don’t directly address the child safety issue. But what we have seen is a lot of parents getting these phones for their kids, getting our service for their kids.

So, we are a mobile service provider. We also offer our own secure phone. The main thing about our secure phone is we prevent Google and Apple from tracking you through the operating system, and we can talk more about that in a minute.

But, when you look at what the service does, you know, our focus is preventing people from being able to track your location, identity, communications, and Internet activity. With that, we’ve also recognized that the social media platform forms are some of the biggest data collectors out there. And so, we developed an app that we call safe social media.

So instead of putting the Facebook app or the TikTok app or some of these other social media apps on your device. And that where they just collect everything on your device and send it back to the mothership, what we’ve developed is an app that you go through to get to your social media platform.

You open up the safe social media app, and then you can log in to your Facebook, TikTok, whatever social media you want to use. You can access it there. And what it does is it creates a safe area around that social media platform, so that platform cannot take any data from your device. So, they can’t track your location. They can’t track your contacts, that sort of thing. You mentioned the idea of predators.

The way kids are running into a lot of predators these days is on social media. And, the idea here is the predator is not going to be able to figure out where that kid is located just by looking at their social media profile. because we’re not transmitting that kid’s location to the social media profile. So when we see parents using this, they’ll get these, they’ll get our phones for their kids. And then, you know, we prevent people that you don’t want to have tracking from tracking it, but you can still deploy an app like a Life 360, for example, on your child’s phone, and that live 360 app will transmit your child’s location to you.

Brian McClain: Excellent. Well, that’s great. Okay. So, we got a couple minutes left. Can I put this on an Android? You can put this on an iPhone, or you can get your own device. Do I have that correct? That’s correct. Excellent. Okay.

If you’re tired, you know, if you love your iPhone, you love your Android, you can actually make it better and safer by going to 4freedommobile.com.

David Sinclair: That’s right. Absolutely. Go out to 4 freedommobile.com You sign up for our service, unlimited talk techs, and high-speed data starts at just $19.99 a month. It’s a great opportunity for you to get your coverage wherever you want it and secure your phone and stop these tech companies from just collecting all your data and doing whatever they want with Alright.

Brian McClain: Well, that sounds like great final words there. But do you have anything else you want to throw out there before we let you go?

David Sinclair: All I just want to say is, you know, we’re all about digital freedom. You know, we’re big believers in the freedom of speech, the freedom of information, freedom of movement, and freedom of money. And those are the 4 core freedoms that we’re focused on.

That’s where the name 4 Freedom Mobile comes from. We believe everybody should have that, and we believe everybody needs to take advantage of getting the tools they need to keep that.

Brian McClain: Excellent. Excellent. And their prices look better than all the big guys. We’re going to keep in touch with you because we love this initiative. So we will be in touch.
