WASHINGTON, DC — American Values 24 (AV24), the super PAC supporting the candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., took Super Bowl watchers back in time on Sunday night with a brilliant TV ad that aired right before the much-watched halftime show featuring Usher.
A spokesperson for AV24 said the ad cost $7 million. In a statement provided to Intelligencer, Tony Lyons, Co-Founder of the super PAC, said, “The panicked DC power brokers are working overtime to keep Kennedy off the ballot because they know he can and will end their culture of greed and corruption. They offer us soaring inflation, forever wars, and chronic disease. RFK Jr offers us real change along with freedom, trust, and hope. Like his uncle and his father, Kennedy is a corruption fighter, and it’s no wonder the DNC is trying every old trick and inventing new tricks to stop him. The public sees through it all and won’t stand for it.”
Kennedy, whose polling in battleground states has caused panic attacks inside the White House, is increasingly drawing attacks from the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Last week, the DNC announced its intention to file an official complaint with the FEC alleging that the super PAC and Kennedy campaign were illegally coordinating. Such attacks are par for the course in presidential campaigns, but what makes this latest attack from the DNC different is how early in the race the campaign comes.
The Kennedy campaign is “in the process of accepting a $15 million unlawful in-kind contribution by coordinating their efforts to get him on the ballot,” DNC legal counsel Bob Lenhard said on a call Friday announcing the FEC complaint.
“Rather than doing that hard work itself, using money raised in compliance with the candidate contribution limits, the campaign is taking a shortcut, outsourcing what is otherwise a core campaign function to a super PAC,” Lenhard added.
Mark Gorton, the New York City environmentalist and a Co-Founder of AV24, said in response, “The latest DNC attempt to undermine the democratic process and prevent voters from having a choice shows their level of desperation. Six months of relentless attacks from the DNC-aligned media have not dented RFK Jr.’s momentum. RFK Jr. continues to gain support and poll well. The American public can see that Biden is just a frontman for the neocon deep state, and he is falling badly in the polls. The only argument the DNC has left is that Biden is not Trump. When RFK Jr. gets on the ballot, the American public will have the ability to choose a candidate who is not Trump, who has integrity, bravery, a proven track record of fighting corporate corruption, and the ability to stand up to the corporate interests that have taken over the Biden administration. The American people are waking up, and the DNC’s only hope is to prevent them from having a choice.”
